Canadian Firearms Program

Canadian Firearms Program In Canada, firearms are regulated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canadian Firearms Program and are classified as non-restricted, restricted or prohibited. Non-restricted firearms include most rifles and shotguns. Restricted firearms include most handguns and some rifles.

In order to possess a firearm, you must first obtain a firearms licence from the RCMP. Whether a Possession Only Licence (POL) or a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL), you must first complete the mandatory Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) (for non-restricted firearms) and if you wish to possess a restricted firearm, you must also complete the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC).

Our Service

At Executive Firearms Training, we teach both the CFSC and the CRFSC. Our CFSC Firearms Safety Instructor has been designated by the Canadian Firearms Program to teach both courses.

The CFSC (Non-restricted) is $99 CAD and the CRFSC (Restricted) is $75 CAD, not including tax.

Both the CFSC and CRFSC Manuals are sold on request for $15 CAD each.

Courses are held locally in Richmond.

Successful candidates must achieve a passing mark (80%) on both written and practical exams, and will receive a course report for each course. Please be aware that there is a $50.00 non-refundable deposit.

We accept cash, cheque, or Credit Card. Credit Card payments may be made in person, by telephone, or through our secure PayPal service.

The Non-restricted course is usually held on a Saturday and followed by the Restricted course on the Sunday of the same weekend. Both courses run from 8 AM to 5 PM. Alternative course times are available on request.

Please call to schedule your courses. We would enjoy hearing from you!

Next Steps

Successful candidates may apply to the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program for their firearms licence and must send their course reports with their applications.

Further Training

Please note that the CFSC and CRFSC are purely safety courses and both courses are entirely classroom based. Becoming proficient with a firearm requires hands-on training and firearms owners are encouraged to sign up for our marksmanship courses. Next time you visit the range, you’ll thank yourself for training with Executive! See our Live Fire section for details and call to schedule your training today!
